Georgia International Convention CenterThe City of College Park announces that the Georgia International Convention Center has been selected as a Fulton County voting precinct for the November election. The Fulton County Board of Elections voted affirmatively during its board meeting held Monday, September 14th.

College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom began conversations with the Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Rob Pitts and GICC Executive Director Mercedes Miller earlier during the summer, after witnessing obstacles faced during June's primary. The GICC will be used for early voting, available to any resident of Fulton County who would like to vote in-person prior to Election Day.

Plans include up to 50 voting machines within the GICC's 32,000 square foot hall; machines will be sanitized after each voter.

"College Park is proud to be able to provide this opportunity to all registered voters in Fulton County.  It would not have been possible without the hard work of the staff of the Georgia International Convention Center. I am grateful for their commitment to bring this idea to fruition," said Mayor Motley Broom.  "After the difficulties we saw with voting earlier this year, city officials knew we were uniquely positioned to assist.  Our city-owned and operated convention center is the second largest in the state and we have ample space to keep voters safe while exercising their rights. We're excited to work with the Fulton County Board of Elections to make early voting a seamless process."

"The GICC is excited to serve as a community conduit for this voting season," says Executive Director Mercedes Miller. "Our facility is conveniently located and accessible by MARTA via the ATLSkyTrain and will offer free parking.  We will be able to accommodate larger numbers of voters with social distancing and a reduction in wait times."
