Utility Assistance (COVID-19)

How To Apply: 

Eligible Fulton County residents of the City of College Park should complete a College Park CARES Utility Assistance Customer Contact Formavailable in the Customer Service Lobby) and submit it to the reception desk. 

Customers will then be contacted by the Grant Coordinator via email / phone  to schedule an in-person appointment to complete the application and submit copies of all of the required verification documents at one time. 

Please Note

  • You must bring COPIES of all required documents to your appointment.   WE DO NOT MAKE COPIES.   

  • You must give us 24-hours advanced notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. You will  lose your place in line, if  your appointment is missed without calling to reschedule it 24 hours in advance.  NO EXCEPTIONS.


How It Works


Through funding provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of College Park and Fulton County have partnered to provide temporary emergency financial assistance for residents negatively impacted by COVID-19. The program is specifically designated for utility payment assistance, designed to prevent utility cutoff once the moratorium on utilities was lifted.  

Income Eligibility Requirements/Verification

College Park's COVID-19 Financial Assistance Program is limited to all Fulton County/City of College Park residents who are at or below 80% of the area median income as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and who have suffered a recent loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Application Process

(PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CHECK YOUR APPLICATION STATUS. 

Please be patient, Your application will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, in the order in which it was received. Our Grant Administrator will notify you via email when your application has been approved/denied.
   

Applications may be dropped off at City Hall from 8:30 A.M. 4:00 P.M. at the front desk receptionist.

Applicants will be asked to provide the following documentation:

  • College Park GA CARES Utility Assistance Application Form completed by the utility account holder.
  • Third-Party Authorization and Waiver of Confidentiality(required)
  • State of Georgia Photo ID of all adults in the household  (Address on all IDs provided must match the address on the utility account) 
  • Most recent City of College Park utility bill
  • Most recent Bank Statement for each adult in the household
  • Verification of income documents* for each adult in the household ( see list below)
  • Self-Certification of Annual Income by Beneficiary Form

*Verification of all sources of income. Examples include:

Tenant Selection Criteria

 - Fulton County households that have a sudden loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible to apply for up to $2000.00 in utility assistance. 

- Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until funding is exhausted.

- Previously denied applicants are not eligible to apply.

- Grant recipients are not eligible to apply.

- Individuals who have received utility assistance ( ie. LIHEAP)  from other organizations ( i.e. FACAA) are not eligible to apply.

- City employees are not eligible to apply.
