College Park Covid TestingCovid-19 Testing

Curative (curative.com) is the laboratory that CORE GA will be using to process COVID-19 tests in Fulton County. The transition will take place throughout the week of January 4th-9th. The impetus for this change is to use insurance dollars to cover costs of free testing to everyone and free up tax dollars allocated for testing in the county.

The switch to Curative will bring about some changes that we will address in detail below. However, the following will remain the same:

  • Testing will be free and available for everyone
  • The public will be able to register starting the Friday before the upcoming week. We encourage people to register in advance of arrival at the testing location to speed up the process. Onsite registration is available too.
  • This is the system that we will be using in Fulton County
  • Results will still be distributed electronically.
  • You do not need to have symptoms to qualify.
  • The system is also available in Spanish and Chinese.
  • Result turnaround time is still 3 - 5 days.
  • The test is still self-administered.
  • All of the same safety measures will be implemented.
  • Consent forms for anyone under the age of 17 are still required.

Most importantly, here are the big new changes to the system:

THE TEST

  • The test requires an oral swab

REGISTRATION

  • The system will ask for basic information, demographics, and insurance information.
  • Insurance information will now be asked during the registration process.
  • I recommend going through the registration process as a whole to understand the whole system.
  • There isn’t a limit to the number of times a patient can be tested.

ARRIVING ONSITE

  • Once you have received your confirmation notification via email or text, please have the registration code ready in order to check in.
  • If you have not registered yet, you will be asked to do so onsite. This process can take 10 - 15 minutes if you have all of the needed information.

POST TEST

  • It is recommended that individuals quarantine while they wait for test results.
  • NOTICE: If you receive a negative test result for COVID-19, it means that you did not have a detectable viral load at the time you provided your sample. It is possible that the virus may still be incubating and you could still become infectious later on. You might test negative if the sample was collected early in your infection and test positive later during your illness. - CDC
  • You will receive an electronic link via the method you used to register (text or email) when your results are ready.
