Office of the City Manager

On April 3, 2023 the City of College Park appointed Stanley Hawthorne as the City Manager of College Park. Hawthorne brings years of experience in various city appointments and community leadership positions. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Troy University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Virginia.
Previously, he served as the town manager for Bloomfield, CT, as well as city manager for Lauderdale Lakes, FL, and assistant city manager for Fort Lauderdale, Tamarac, FL and Lakeland, FL. In addition, he has served as president for the Camp Fire USA Sunshine Council and the Broward City/County Management Association. He is a current member of the International and Florida City/County Management Association, the National Forum for Black Public Administrators and the Government Finance Officers Association.

Hawthorne's vision outlines what the organization wants to be. It is a long term-view and concentrates on the future:

The City of College Park aspires to be a destination where people come to raise a family, start and grow businesses, live, work, and play all in a sustainable and healthy social and physical environment. The fundamental purpose of our City Government is captured by the mission of the City of College Park, highlighting its main purpose and what it does to achieve the vision.

What is our mission?

The municipal government within the City of College Park exists to create policies and harness and direct human and financial resources in ways that cultivate a sense of community and a place where businesses, families, and individuals can thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.

Since his appointment, as City Manager, Hawthorne has implemented Community Building Leadership Team, also known by the acronym CBLT. The CBLT consists of the City Manager, Department Directors, and other key leaders of College Park’s administrative structure. Our role as administrative leaders is to facilitate the organization’s mission to build quality community and to bridge the needs of our constituent groups, namely the community (neighbors), governing body (mayor and council), and employees (community builders).

In other words, WE build community.
